WA WINDOW TINT LAWS

In Western Australia, legal tint is all about the amount of visible light that can pass through your car windows. The Department of Transport sets the rules for window tinting. For cars, buses, and stretch limousines in Western Australia, the legal tint limits are:

Front side windows: At least 35% visible light transmission (VLT)
Rear side windows: At least 20% VLT
Rear window: At least 20% VLT

For van-type vehicles with metal panels to the rear of the driver’s seat as a manufacturer’s option, along with ambulances, hearses, and coroners’ vehicles:
 
Front side windows: At least 35% VLT
Rear side windows: No minimum VLT
Rear window: No minimum VLT
